Industrial Battery Single Point Battery Water Systems
Over-watering or under-watering your battery are two of the most common causes of battery failure. Over-watering a battery creates spills that deplete the acid in the battery. This can create a capacity loss that can only be corrected with an acid adjustment. Irreparable damage may occur if the battery is under-watered to where the water level drops to below the top of the plates.
The maintenance costs associated with battery watering can be very high. The industry average watering time is about 1 minute per cell. This includes the time it takes to extract the battery (for most narrow isle equipment), open the lid of the compartment, prepare the watering cart, etc. For a 48V battery, it would take approximately 24 minutes to water the battery correctly.
If you have a loaded labor cost of $25/hr., it would cost you $10 per battery. If you have a fleet of 20 batteries and your operation creates a need to water every week, it would cost you $10,400.00 per year. Watering a battery this way is costly and reduces the productivity of your work-force. Adding a single-point watering system to this operation would create savings within the first year of use and create more time for your personnel.
A single-point watering device greatly decreases the amount of time needed to water your batteries. Once a battery has been charged and cooled, simply connect the supply line to the battery line, and the battery is refilled quickly, safely and effectively. There is no need to extract the battery for narrow-isle equipment, since the battery line is accessible without any movement of the battery. The supply line can be connected to a faucet or watering cart for convenient watering.
